Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a holistic manual therapy regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOcs). Osteopaths provide primary health care for those seeking diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of many musculoskeletal conditions. Osteopaths undergo extensive academic and practical training in order to differentiate between purely musculoskeletal dysfunction and other pathologies.

Osteopaths view the body as a system and take into account a wide array of information, including a patient’s medical history and life style, beyond just presenting symptoms. With this holistic approach, osteopaths aim to treat not just the location of pain but to treat the root cause of dysfunction and thus reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence.

Osteopathic treatment includes a variety of techniques, including joint manipulation and articulation, massage and rehabilitative exercises. These techniques promote blood and nerve supply to restore health and function where symptoms are manifesting.
