Osteopathy is a holistic manual therapy regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOcs). Osteopaths provide primary health care for those seeking diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of many musculoskeletal conditions. Therefore, osteopaths undergo detailed academic and practical training in order to differentiate between purely musculoskeletal dysfunction and pathologies that may need further investigation via referral.

As Osteopaths view the body as a system, practitioners aim to combine details from thorough medical history, life style and presenting symptoms, with the osteopathic principle that the body has its own innate heeling ability. With this holistic approach, we aim to not just treat the location but to seek the root cause of the symptoms and thus reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence.

Osteopathic treatment may use a variety of techniques, from joint manipulation and articulation to massage and rehabilitation exercises to help release tension and stretch particular muscle. A combination of these techniques aim to promote healthy blood and nerve supply to restore health and function where dysfunction is found.

George Russell M.Ost

George gained a Masters degree in Osteopathy from the University College of Osteopathy (formerly BSO) - one of the most prestigious and largest Osteopathic schools in Europe where for the last two years he worked in a busy clinic treating a variety of patients. He also spent time working in a number of clinics specialising in treating patients with chronic pain, the elderly, children, the homeless as well as a busy GP surgery.

His approach to treatment is to adopt a holistic approach when dealing with his patients in order to treat not only the immediate pain, but also the root cause, helping to restore the body to its optimum state of health.

With over ten years’ experience in the bike industry, as well as being an avid cyclist himself, George has a keen interest in sporting injury rehabilitation. His osteopathic experience, as well as a number of injuries himself, means he is passionate in helping his patients overcome injury as well as advising them on sports wellbeing.
